  1. Is it even possible to convert a ps3 iso back to pkg? I think someone needs to invent a tool, if it is. EDIT Thanks for making me tagged with developer. Just wanted to say finally. Edited May 30, 2015 by B7U3C50SS.
  2. Hykem the Demon, known for his amazing work on Reverse Engineering on file formats, such as PGD, SDAT, EDAT, RIF, RAP, ACT.DAT and others (you can see some of his work on the emunewz network forums) has decided to release the last piece of the puzzle for psx decryption, a tool called psxtract, which converts psx eboots to iso format.

There are many websites that you can download PSX and PS2 games from, my usual is romhustler.net. Some games can and cannot be played, so you better test after downloading.

*PS3 games on PSP and PS Vita section is at the bottom.

This is my own uploaded games collection.
Let’s start with PSX games. When you extract the compress download file, most likely you’ll have 2 files .bin and .cue, I believe that PS3 can read those two but I prefer to convert it to .iso as it has a smaller size. After that, you should decide whether you want to store the games internal or external for playing, and the method is the same.

Internal: Create a PSXISO folder in dev_hdd000 (your main internal hdd), and copy your games to it.

External: Create a PSXISO folder in the root of your external hdd, and copy your games to it.

Then go to Retro tab in Multiman, choose the game you want to play and click on it.

Suggestion: I prefer to turn off the screen mode for PSX and PS2 games, by default, it is set as “Full Screen”.

Now it’s PS2 games’ turn.

First, download the below package, it has exdata, klicense folders, PS2 place holder and reActPSN3.20 pkgs. For reActPSN pkg, you should check if the version can work with your CFW or not.

Unzip the file, and copy everything to the root of your external hdd, and plug it in PS3. Then do as follow:

  1. Install PS2 place holder pkg
  2. Install reActPSN pkg
  3. Create a new user with a name “aa”
  4. Run reActPSN and PS3 will be automatically restarted
  5. After the restart, the name of of “aa” user will be changed, but you don’t have to bother about it, just log in your usual user because your PS3 now can play PS2 games.
  6. Don’t forget to create a PS2 memory card, you can find it easily.

Extract your PS2 download compressed file, and most likely, you’ll have .iso file. But sometimes, you’d have .bin, .cue and .mds; my suggestion is: Don’t convert them to .iso file, just leave them like that.

Now create a PS2ISO folder in the root of your external hdd and copy your games to it. Be noted that PS2 games can only be played internally.

Plug in your external hdd to PS3 and go to Retro tab in Multiman, you’ll see your PS2 games, click on the one you’d want to play and Multiman will convert the games to PS2 Classic package which is stored in PS2ISO inside the internal hdd. After the conversion, you can click on the game which was converted (the name should mention about PS2 Classic), Multiman will take a little time to set up the game for the first run and it will bring you back to XMB. Now, go to PS2 Place Holder and run application. The application will play the game; if it failed, try to load the game again from Multiman, but if it failed multiple times that means you can’t play that game. FYI, it also doesn’t work if you copy the PS2 Classic package to external hdd.

UPDATE: This is an extra process to play PS2 games, it will take a little more time but it’s worthy. I planned to post it long ago but forgot, and since many people have looked at this post, I decided to post this one which will show you how to convert PS2 ISO to a PKG now. Enjoy!

Happy playing!!!

I believe that you have heard about Remote Play on PS4, and I bet you have seen that option in your PS3 also. Apparently, not all PS3 games are officially allowed for Remote Play on PSP and PS Vita. But then this is not a hardware requirement because Remote Play is technically Game Streaming, I assume. The main hardware concern is PSP resolution, it is too low. I don’t have a PS Vita (hoping to get one soon), I only have a PSP so I gave it go. I could play Dragon Age Ultimate Version smoothly, I also tried Fifa15 but it got hang on the splash screen of the game. I haven’t had much time to test all but I am very positive about this. By the way, your PS3 should be upgraded to recent CFWs to have Remote Play feature.

What you have to do is very simple, all you have to do is to enable Remote Play mode of the game by modifying PARAM.SFO file with ps3tools. There are 3 options under Remote Play box of SFO editor, I don’t understand what they are yet, but the default setting is the 3rd one so I assume it’s about Display and Audio. Second task is registering your device to your PS3. Go to Remote Play under Settings and Register New Device. You will have to connect your device to PS3 via USB cable. Once the registration is done. You can go to Remote Play under Networks to ebstalish a private PS3 network which you should select in your PSP/Vita to start the Remote Play. You also have an option to pair them with your home wifi network.

Update: I have tried remote play with PS Vita, and it sucks + lags. I don’t understand how can PSP can do a lag-free remote play with PS3 and Vita cannot. And not just PS3, I have read many threads saying that the lagging exists with remote play on PS4 and mobile devices. I believe that the only lag-free option for Vita is Second Screen feature with PS4. Pst.

That would be all, good luck!

This is a simple Tutorial/Guide that teaches you how to Convert PSX games to PSP. Learn to convert PSX (PSOne) games to PSP eboots that can be played on a real PlayStation Portable/PSP, follow the instructions and you will be making your own custom boots in no time!

STEP 1: Download PSX2PSP v1.4.2

Convert iso to ps3

DOWNLOAD:MEGA |GDrive | FileFactory

First we need to download a program to convert PSX games to PSP EBOOT, it’s called PSX2PSP.
I’ve made a pack with the latest version (1.4.2) and also a file necessary for the program to work, yes the infamous BASE.PBP file is already included, so all you need to do is download it and extract it:

STEP 2: Run the Program:

Open the program (PSX2PSP.exe) and you will see the interface, it looks like this:

So what you do is click on the […] icons and search for what the program is asking:
1- The ISO/BIN/IMG of the game you want to convert.
2- A folder to save the EBOOT.PBP
3- It’s a list of existing games, you have to choose the game you are converting from the list and it will fill all the other blanks for you.
4- An icon image, not mandatory but looks cool.
5- A background.

You can add music and other stuff but i usually only do the icon+background, a good resource for them on QuickJump forums where users make them and share them.

Note: I recommend you click options and set compression to 1. It’s the setting that worked best for me, no compression often make the eboot not work at all. and too much compression can cause glitches so i always use 1.

6- When you are done click Convert.

STEP 3: Transferring the game to your PSP and playing!

After converting the game you will find a folder on the output directory named after the ID (which the program shows you) of the game you converted.
It is extremely important that you copy this folder on the right place which is inside the Game folder of the PSP. The full path goes like this:

Pkg

How To Convert Psx Iso To Psp

Where TITLE is the folder you got from converting the game, that should be the game ID, ie: “SLUS1234”.

That’s it, the game should now appear on the psp game menu.

  • The game is listed as corrupted data: This is most likely due to wrong placement of the EBOOT file, it has to be inside a folder (title of the game) which is inside the game folder, not respecting this hierarchy will result in this error.

If the game hangs/freeze try changing the disc-load speed to fast.
This can be done from the menu that pops up when you press select inside the game.
And also from the same menu (Other settings) you should set the game to Full Screen.
